Lessons with Jessica Kung Music - Studio Policy

All music studios have different policies regarding payment of fees and missed lessons, so please read the following carefully and contact me if you have any questions. Commencing lessons with Jessica Kung Music means you agree to the terms and conditions laid out below:

Payment of fees

Tuition is provided on a term basis, and fees are due within two (2) weeks of the issued invoice date. Lessons are billed according to the NSW State school term (usually 10 weeks per term), however school holidays and pupil-free days may differ, so please check the dates that are sent out with the invoice. Students’ lesson times are reserved once payments of fees are received.

Non-attendance of lessons - One on One Lessons

Illness

If a student is unable to attend their lesson due to illness, an online Zoom lesson is offered. Jessica Kung Music asks that students default to online lessons if they are experiencing any symptoms, no matter how slight. The studio is set up to deliver effective online lessons at a moment’s notice so that progress is not interrupted.

Activity Clash

If a student is unable to attend their lesson due to a clash with another activity (eg. school event, family holiday), Jessica Kung Music offers two (2) options:

Make-up Lesson

A make-up lesson can be arranged, however is subject to availability. Make-up lessons are only offered when a minimum of 24-hours notice is given.

Once an alternative time slot for a make-up lesson has been agreed and confirmed by the student, no further changes to the time or date will be made or offered. Make-up lesson time slots are allocated and reserved for the student, however if the lesson is forgotten or cancelled, the lesson will be forfeited.

If no suitable time slot can be found for a face-to-face make up lesson within the same term, the option of an asynchronous lesson is also available (see below).

No make-up lessons are to be carried over to the next term.

Asynchronous Lesson

Students can opt to send audio/ video recordings of themselves playing and/ or singing in advance, and these recordings will be reviewed (and feedback given) during their regular lesson time. Feedback will be communicated to the student via email or text, and given on all recordings submitted - recordings can include but are not limited to: whole performances, sections of songs/ pieces and technical work.

Recordings MUST be submitted in advance and prior to away date/s; if no recordings are submitted, no feedback will be given.

If the student is a no-show, or their regular lesson is cancelled without prior notification, the lesson is forfeited and no make-up or asynchronous lesson will be offered.

Non-attendance of lessons - Group Class: Vocal Groups

If a student is unable to make their group class for any reason, a breakdown of all new elements/ concepts/ song lyrics/ recordings/ links will be posted in the Vocal Group’s WhatsApp group. Soft copies of all print outs will also be uploaded to WhatsApp so the student is able to continue with their practice over the week.

Notice Period for Discontinuing Lessons

Music education is very dear to my heart, so it is my hope that you will bring to my attention any negative feelings and discuss with me well in advance of making any decisions to stop lessons. However, in the event of discontinuing lessons, a minimum of four (4) weeks notice before the end of term is required, to avoid incurring the full fees for the following term.

Do you have questions about any of the above? If so, please contact me and we can have a chat. Otherwise I look forward to seeing you in our lesson and will assume you are on board with this studio policy. Jessica
